On Saturday we welcomed 50 shooters across 9 squads and were treated to the kind of winter weather that makes you forget it is mid-July. Clear blue skies, plenty of sunshine and almost no wind created perfect shooting conditions, and the set-up crew answered with equally perfect targets. By the end of the program, we recorded 44 possibles before the shoot-offs even began.13 competitors were in the overall double-barrel shoot-off. One hundred and eighty-three additional targets later only Carl Freiberg and Phil Thursfield remained. Carl finally emerged on top with an extraordinary 233 straight (including event targets) using steel shot, breaking the previous club record of 188 held by Andrew Brady. Carl earned his 200-break badge in the process. Congratulations Carl, tremendous effort 🔥Phil pushed Carl every step of the way and collected his 100, 150 and 200 break badges in the process. Phenomenal shooting Phil, well done 🔥Also earning break badges:Chris Joyce - 50 break Steven Fox - 75 breakMark D'Alia - 50 and 75 breakCongratulations to you all 🔥A heartfelt thank-you goes to• the office team and members from other clubs, who kept squadding and scoring running smoothly• the kitchen crew who kept everyone well fed• the volunteers behind the bar who never let the crowd go thirsty• and the ground crew who filled traps, set targets and packed everything away after a long but fantastic day. Your effort turned a great programme into an unforgettable day.Results:50 tgt HCP:1st - Brendan McRae 50/502nd - Lou Larubina 49/50 (4/4)3rd - Rachel Wiggins 49/50 (3/4)50 tgt Double Barrel:Overall - Carl Freiberg 50/50 (183/183)AA: 1st - Stuart Allen 50/50 (129/130)2nd - David Kent 50/50 (48/49)3rd - Brian Freiberg 50/50 (39/40)A:1st - Phil Thursfield 50/50 (182/183)2nd - Steven Fox 50/50 (44/45)3rd - Neil Bakker 50/50 (18/19)B:1st - Steven Zeigler 50/50 (77/78)2nd - Mark D'Alia 50/50 (35/36)3rd - Billy Woodward 50/50 (5/6)C:1st - Damien Shale 49/502nd - Lou Larubina 47/50 (10/10)3rd - Rob Cale 47/50 (9/10)Ladies - Mel Chapman 47/50 and Rachael Wiggins 47/50Junior - Zack John 45/50Vets – was awarded to Steve McNab and Graeme Boyd.
